Manuscript Evaluation

How It Works

1. Make Contact

When you’re ready for a manuscript evaluation, get in touch with me. Once you tell me a bit about your project and publishing plans, I’ll be able to decide if we’re a good fit. If I think I’m the right editor to evaluate your work, I’ll provide details about price, how long the evaluation will take, and when I am available.

2. Book Me & Send Files

Once you agree to go forward with the evaluation, I’ll ask for a deposit and book you into my calendar. You’ll send me the full manuscript and any supplementary files by our agreed upon start date.

3. Evaluation

I’ll get to work. I’ll read your manuscript and take detailed notes, which I’ll then turn into a thorough report of your manuscripts strengths and weaknesses. When I finish, I’ll send you finished evaluation and the final invoice.

4. Follow Up

You are welcome to send me an email to ask any follow-up questions about my feedback. Just remember that it’s best to do so while your work is still fresh in my mind. Then you should have everything you need to revise your manuscript!

A mutual Twitter acquaintance led me to Emily, and I am thankful to have followed up on the lead. Emily’s replies to my emails were prompt and gave me a sense of confidence right away. I sent her a sample of my work and had feedback just a few days later. Through her initial comments, I could see her competence and desire to help me improve my manuscript. Though we were both, coincidentally enough in the same overseas country and then forced to rush home due to the coronavirus, we stayed in contact and supported each other through the ordeal. Emily then took my complete manuscript and read through it with a professional eye and pointed out the areas that could benefit from rewrites or added description. She provided me with a detailed manuscript analysis that will help me improve my work. Her comments have been worth every penny.

JOY BLAKE

I hired Emily for a manuscript evaluation for the fifth rewrite of my book, in which I decided to switch genres from YA dystopian to YA fantasy. Her feedback really helped shape some big picture things I hadn’t even thought about, and touched on everything from overall structure to grammatical errors and marketability. She was tactful, encouraging, and thorough. I highly recommend hiring Emily for any help you need for your book.
